The Cantata Singers of Ottawa has launched its 4th year under the baton of Music Director, Michael Zaugg. We invite you to be part of this exciting season for the choir by advertising in our programs!
This 40-voice choir, now in its 45th season, is well-respected and admired in the Ottawa area. The Cantata Singers of Ottawa is constantly praised by critics for the purity of its sound and its exciting selection of music. The choir is in great demand to sing at various venues, and every year the choir is invited to sing with the NAC Orchestra.
On November 22 and 23, 2008, Michael Zaugg will conduct the Cantata Singers’ 45th anniversary concert, titled Petite messe solennelle. This is one of Gioachino Rossini’s greatest choral works which, despite the title, is neither small nor solemn, ranging from hushed intensity to boisterous high spirits, with the rhythmic vitality for which Rossini is famous. The choir will perform this work with the unusual accompaniment combination of piano and accordion with renowned pianist Jean Desmarais and accordionist Alexander Sevastian. A rare treat! Soloists include Ottawa’s own Luc Lalonde, bass, who is currently singing under the tutelage of Placido Domingo, one of the Three Tenors. Other soloists are talented young singers: Michèle Bogdanowicz (soprano), Marion Newman (mezzo-soprano), and Michel Schrey (tenor).
The choir’s spring concert is titled Shades of Love, with Michael Zaugg, conductor. On April 18 and 19, 2009, the choir will be singing a cappella songs portraying the joy, pain and humour of love, with works by Claudio Monteverdi, Healey Willan, Luigi Dallapicolla, Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, Paul Sjolund and Ruth Watson Henderson, and exploring the range of emotions expressed by composers from the 16th century to contemporary times.
There is lots of space for YOUR advertisement in the programs for these two fabulous concerts. We expect an audience of 300 to 400 for each concert. So with a small investment, you can reach 300 to 400 families in the Ottawa area. You will also be helping our choir stage these concerts which bring music to your community.
