The Lord of the Rings: A Symphony in Six Movements
Haley Westenra, vocalist
The Cantata Singers were part of a 150-voice choir who
participated in a performance of The Lord of the Rings Symphony,
written by Canadian composer Howard Shore.
Some of our members sang solo parts from the symphony:
- Mary Zborowski, soprano
- Carole Portelance, alto
While preparing for this work, the choir members added the following
languages to their repertoire:
- Quenya (high Elvish)
- Sindarin (common Elvish)
- Adûnaic (the language of the Ringwraiths)
- Black Speech (the language of Mordor)
- Khuzdûl (Dwarvish)
- Rohirric (Old English, the language of the humans)
