Invitation from our Music Director

Cantata Singers of Ottawa — 50th season

November 2013

see our director page

Dear Friends of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa

The 2013-14 season marks a significant milestone for the Cantata Singers of Ottawa — the choir’s 50th anniversary.

This season’s series will celebrate our anniversary, our Choral Future and our Canadian choral connections. The centrepiece of the 50th Anniversary Concert in November will be the Canadian premiere of “The Salisbury Vespers”, a major choral work by British composer Bob Chilcott. It will also be a time to celebrate the choir’s past achievements and look forward to future accomplishments. In March, for our Choral Future celebration Viva la Vida, we will perform with three excellent youth choirs from the Capital Region. In May, the choir will continue its Canadian Connections series and celebrate in a joint concert with Edmonton’s Pro Coro Canada, one of Canada’s top professional choirs.

Although the May concert is sure to be a joyous occasion, it will be mixed with sadness for me. It marks my final concert as Artistic Director of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa. My nine years with the choir have been both rewarding and enriching. Directing the Cantata Singers was my first position after arriving in Canada. Now my career takes my family and me to Alberta.

I look forward to celebrating this, my last, season with you all. Thank you for your continued support and with my best wishes,
