Season 2026-2027

Season 63 Concerts

Dear Friends of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa,

Welcome to the 63rd season of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa. This year’s concerts explore light in its many forms — the warmth of candlelight, the radiance of the human spirit, and the wonder of the stars above.

We begin the season with Bach Christmas by Candlelight with the Ottawa Baroque Consort, featuring a complete performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s beloved Wachet auf (BWV 140), alongside favourites including Lobet den Herrn, the Air on the G String, and Sheep May Safely Graze.

In the spring, Eternal Light offers a luminous a cappella journey through music by Thomas Tallis, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Morten Lauridsen, and Eric Whitacre — music that moves from mystery toward peace and illumination.

We conclude with The Stars Above, an evocative program inspired by the night sky, from medieval chant and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, to the shimmering beauty of Claude Debussy and contemporary voices including Ēriks Ešenvalds.

Thank you for being part of our musical community. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming season concert.

Warm regards,

Artistic Director
